Practicing Our Faith:
A Way of Life for a
Searching People

The gap between theory and practice in religion is a concern for many. Aside from going to church on Sunday, how does a Christian live the power of faith? Instead of just a Christian, how can we bring the meaningfulness of Christianity into our life?

Our series, Practicing Our Faith, explores six essential faith practices, each of which offers a way of connecting faith with our daily lives and opens a path of spiritual formation. Dorothy Bass, the editor of our book, defines these practices as "those shared activities that address fundamental human needs and that, woven together, form a way of life"; they are both attuned to present-day needs and taught by ancient wisdom. Each week we will explore a different faith practices -- hospitality, keeping Sabbath, discernment, shaping community, forgiveness, and singing our lives. Sensitive to the needs of our time, Practicing Our Faith will help us to live our daily lives in ways that integrate faith and practice. Each session will present the faith practice we are exploring and then offer biblical study and questions for group sharing. This series can help us to actually life a Christ-like life.
